the land of the mormons...dun dun dun dun
um so yeah, i went to Salt Lake City, Utah over break. I thought it wasnt going to be that great except for the snowboarding and skiing of course but it actually wasnt that bad. :) It was pretty fun. um out of the 6 days i went snowboarding for 3 of them and skiing for 1. The resorts were AMAZING. i want to go live there just for them. the runs were at least a mile and a half long compared to our like 1/3 of a mile long ones >.< oh well. i got to see my dad's side of the family which i havent done in a while. a while being like 3 years. i forgot how cool a lot of them are. i only got to see a tiny tiny tiny portion of them however. yes they are mormon which means they just kind of tend to keep popping them out :P my dad was one of seven and we saw 2 of his sisters, both have like 5 kids, one of them has about 3 grandkids already >.> so yeah those are my cousin's kids...my cousin's once removed? i think so. anyway, i saw my favorite aunt on my dad's side. She is the youngest of the 7 and the most fun. she too is a fellow red head. and her last kid (who is 3) finally has red hair! out of 5, only one of them has red hair. so we hung out with her family for a day with some added cousins and uncles and aunts. she brought this book that she found when looking for little kids books (has a 6 yr old and a 3 yr old) and she told me all girls should read it. so i read it. the story was like cinderella but with a twist like a million other children books have. however, this one was actually more realistic. it was called Fanny's Dream. It was about Fanny and she was stocky and the daughter of a farmer so she was kind of butch and such. however, she has her mind set on marrying a prince (mayor's son). even her own friends said that she was too ugly. so on the day of the ball she waits in her garden for her fairy godmother. she waits for about 3 hours and her godmother doesnt show. then her neighbor (cant remember his name *insert fred*) fred comes along and sees her sitting in her garden waiting. he asks her what she is waiting for and she says her fairy godmother. he obviously bursts out laughing and then asks her if she knows how to be prissy and wear fancy gowns and impress people. she says no but she knows how to milk a cow and sheer sheep. he then asks if she knows how to eat dinner with 10 different forks and spoons. she says no but i know how to feed slop to pigs and shovel manure. then he says, i know you have your heart set on marrying a prince but i have 200 acres of land and i need a wife to help me out on the farm and take care of me when im sick and raise my children. he then asks her to marry him. "it takes her an hour to give up her dream." she then tells him and they get married, start a farm, and have kids. 3 years later she hears something from the garden and goes out to see what it is. she finds her fairy godmother. her godmother asks her if she still wants to go to the ball and apologizes for being late. fanny then looks inside and sees her husband and kids and tells her fairy godmother that she doesnt want to go anymore. so yeah that was the story. i see why she wanted me to read it. however she said all girls should read it. i think it applies to guys as well. do we expect too much? i think it is a very good moral and idea that kids should start out having instead of all the fairytales they read where everyone just falls madly in love and it works out perfectly. it doesnt work like that. *shrug* anyway i thought i would just share that so yeah, off to sleep, im still on Utah time so ive been off for the whole week. x.x
